LzLabs announced the availability of Gotthard, the first software-defined mainframe (SDM). Users are now able to migrate their mainframe applications and data on modern systems. This allows the applications that process 70 percent of all financial transactions today to transfer to Red Hat Linux servers or Microsoft’s Azure cloud. “More than 5,000 of the world’s largest companies rely on mainframes when it comes to online and batch processing COBOL base goes. These companies, however, are faced with the dilemma of high costs, an ever smaller group of experts for these systems, and the limitations in the field of integration and innovation,” said Mark Creswell, CEO of LzLabs.
