“Software Defined Mainframe” from Switzerland

LzLabs, headquartered in Wallisellen, announced today that it has partnered with Red Hat and Microsoft to offer a “software-defined mainframe”. This company can seamlessly migrate legacy systems to a cloud platform or Linux systems, promises LzLabs.

Until now, it was practically impossible to migrate legacy applications without losing compatibility. The cost to program the applications or rewrite the code are too big. Companies run a large proportion of essential applications, such as customer databases and transaction systems, on legacy systems. These applications have evolved over the years, they partially contain different programming languages, and thus are virtually impossible to translate.
